Regulated Dual Power Supply
Contents
In this article, you will learn how to make a regulated dual power supply that generates regulated +12v and -12v from AC mains supply. This type of supply is very much required while we are using op-amps. Since op-amps are used in many analog circuits, this regulated power supply will help you to test and use with the op-amps circuits. Each output of this circuit is capable of delivering an output of 250mA.
Regulated Dual Power Supply Circuit:
Working of Circuit:
The unregulated mains supply consists of a transformer T1 that steps down the mains AC supply to 15V AC individually across the two halves of the center tap with positive and negative polarities. Diodes D1 to D4 forms a full wave rectifier which converts the AC to DC. The Capacitors C1 and C2 are used to filter the rectified output, whereas C3 to C8 are decoupling capacitors. Here IC1 is a fixed output positive regulator and IC2 is a negative regulator.
